Karen is a CEO with international and multi-industry experience. Winner of 2017 Canada’s 100 Most Powerful Women award from WXN, Women’s Executive Network. President & CEO of Fundserv, the Canadian investment fund industry technology platform celebrating 25 years of reducing time, cost and risk for its members. Karen spent most of her career outside of Canada. She has lived and worked in Mumbai, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Beijing, Seoul, Dubai, London and Amman. Her first CEO role was with HSBC, leading the global bank’s business in Jordan and Palestine. As CEO of Alberta Pensions from 2012-2017, Karen led the transformation of the company from paper-based, manual processes to fully automated, online services. The 5 year, $60 million technology project received “2017 Project of the Year Award” from the Project Management Institute of Canada. She accomplished this success through developing her leaders, working diligently on employee engagement, and bringing a wide variety of stakeholders together to first develop then implement a clear strategic plan. Karen has a proven ability to develop a high powered team to lead an organization to success. She believes open communication is the key ingredient to the success of any CEO and has a TED-style talk on this topic which she delivers at Leadership Conferences.
