Former international defence expert

Born in Scotland and raised in Canada, I started my career in the defence sector in Calgary, Alberta. I worked in Vancouver’s high-tech sector and Silicon Valley before returning to the defence and aerospace industry as a strategy consultant in the United Kingdom.

I later founded a consulting firm in Paris that led international teams on multi-billion dollar equipment programs for the UK Ministry of Defence and NATO special forces. After relocating to Barcelona, I delivered projects across Europe before returning to Calgary in 2010 to lead the Integrated Soldier System Project.

NeuroCommunication innovator

My own challenges delivering high-profile presentations in the international defence sector led me to research the real science behind effective communication. In 2014 I discovered a fascinating link between neuroscience and communication that clearly proves why so many of us struggle to communicate clearly and concisely.

My innovative, science-based approach has helped thousands of executives, leaders and business professionals to excel at communicating in complex corporate environments. My workshops are the training programs of choice for Enbridge University and the Canadian Tire Triangle Learning Academy.

In May 2018 I was thrilled to receive TEC Canada’s 2017 Canadian Speaker of the Year Award – my 98.6% rating is the highest speaker score ever received.

Classic motorsports enthusiast

I’ve competed twice in the legendary LA-Barstow-Las Vegas desert race, the longest two-day dual-sport motorcycle event in the world – on a custom 1975 Yamaha XT500 that I built. I’m passionate about racing and restored a 1968 Ford Mustang as a period-correct race car to compete in local Time Attack events. During the summer months you’ll find me riding around Calgary on my Triumph Scrambler motorcycle or working on my 1963 Chevy truck.
